About a decade ago, if you were a Phantom FM listener, there was one song you couldn’t avoid: ‘Death to Disco’ by Ten Speed Racer. Well, a decade on, singer/guitarist Dermot “Tom Red” Barrett is back with a new solo career, under the pseudonym Masked Man. He’s living in Bergen, in Norway (Shelbourne fans will remember the city from the 1996-97 UEFA Cup when Shels lost to SK Brann 5-2 on aggregate), and has just released debut album The Illusion of Grandeur.
It’s as rocking as you’d expect, but is probably more folky in direction than anything by 10SR. Have a listen below…
